About Courtney

Courtney Johnson was elected Mayor in 2018 and began her first term in 2019. She was reelected in 2022 and began her second term in 2023. Before being elected Mayor, Courtney served from 2017 - 2018 on the Carver City Council.

As Mayor, Courtney represents the City of Carver on the Carver Business Alliance, Carver Resident Advisory Group, District 112 Community Leaders, Carver County Mayors, Minnesota Mayors Association, and the Regional Council of Mayors. She is also President of the League of Minnesota Cities board of directors, a nonpartisan membership organization which serves 842 of Minnesota’s 856 cities through advocacy, education and training, policy development, risk management, and other services. In each of these groups Courtney represents and advocates on behalf of the City of Carver, advances opportunities for our community, and builds relationships for a better Carver.

Before being elected to City Council, Courtney’s involvement in the City of Carver included volunteering on the Planning Commission (2014–2016), Park and Recreation Board (2011–2013) and Steamboat Days Committee (2012–2016). She was the Board Chair for the CAP Agency, a.k.a. the Community Action Partnership of Scott, Carver and Dakota Counties (2018-2023).

A proud St. Cloud State University alumnus, Courtney works as a principal communications consultant for a nonprofit organization with a mission of improving health and well-being for its members, patients, and community. She shares her home with Zac and their kitties. In her free time Courtney can be found volunteering, playing BARGO, gardening, knitting, cheering on the Green Bay Packers and hanging out with family, including her nephews, Luke and Landon.
